Alaska is known as the land of the last frontier because of its vast untamed wilderness, and largely unexplored terrain. Everything about Alaska is rugged and extreme. We record the coldest temperatures in North America, the tallest mountains, the most forest area, the most coast line, diverse wild life, highest rainfall and many other metrics that can quantify how extreme Alaska is. The mystique of Alaska is not quantifiable, but palatable to all who visit. From the quiet rainforests of southeast Alaska to the Aurora Borealis above the arctic circle. Alaska truly is a mysterious and breathtaking land.

At Tested in Alaska, we strive to bring a small taste of all we love about Alaska to you. We organize various treks with in the state, and take the latest gear from the best manufacturers to test and review. All our reviews are based on our experiences in the field by our staff who all live and play in Alaska. We never accept money to give a positive review. If gear doesn’t meet our needs and standards, we don’t spend our time with it. Only the best gear will be presented here, from the best companies.

We believe in being good stewards of the lands we frequent. We enjoy finding companies and products that use recycled material or other ways to be “Green”. We practice “Pack it in, pack it out” principles in all our treks and “Leave it better than you found it.”

We understand that different people have different needs when it comes to gear so our staff contributors are diverse as well. We strive to be informative and to focus on Alaska and the many outdoor opportunities it offers.
